Let Darren & Michelle McChristie, publishers of Superior Outdoors magazine, take you on a virtual tour of the outdoor experiences of the north shore. Through spectacular imagery, they'll cover a range of water and land-based activities, like stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, and hiking.

Paddling Pukaskwa National Park
Parks Canada

Friday Feb 24th 7:00 - 7:45pm
Saturday Feb 25th 10:30 - 11:15am

What's it like to paddle one of Canada's wildest whitewater rivers? Or kayak Lake Superior's most rugged and remote coast? There's only one way to find out: Paddle Pukaskwa (pronounced puck-a-saw). Join Pukaskwa National Park's Lyn Elliott for a virtual trip down the rivers and coastlines of Ontario's largest national park.

About the Presenter:

Lyn Elliott has only questioned her identity as a paddler once. It was July 7, 2007 at 2:43 pm near the start of a 1000 mile canoe trip in northern Canada. Somewhere on the 15 mile long Methye Portage -- under the weight of a 60 lb food barrel as she climbed out of the Hudson Bay watershed and into the Arctic watershed -- she thought she might be a backpacker. That experimental phase was broken by a river trip down the Pukaskwa River a few years later. Lyn has spent twenty years paddling Ontario's best canoe routes, from Quetico to Killarney to Algonquin and beyond. But, the new sea kayak in her garage says she'll be covering a lot more water in the future. Lyn has been lucky enough to move from dream job to dream job at parks across Canada. She recently landed on Lake Superior's shores as the Visitor Experience Product Developer for Pukaskwa National Park, and the paddling's so good she's planning to stay.

Marie Canal and Fort St. Joseph National Historic Sites in Northern Ontario!

About the Presenter:

Tamara van Dyk grew up with a love for nature and anything outdoors. She spent most summers camping with her family in parks like Algonquin, Bon Echo and Presqu'ile.
